Organics and natural products

Organic clothing and food, and other natural products, are often thought of us expensive luxuries for the well-to-do, but in reality, they are simply "real" rather than synthetic. In my opinion, there is such a thing as common sense and intuition that takes precedence over the "science" that is paid for by corporations who are motivated by profit and nothing more.

What do I mean by "intuition," and is it reliable? A good example that comes to mind is the concept of the "conscience." Have you ever seen a conscience? Have you ever held your own conscience in your hand? Could you prove its existence empirically? The answer to these questions is no, yet, most of us are pretty certain that we do indeed have a conscience, because we have felt it, we have experienced the reality of its existence.

In this same manner, I feel as though nature is perfect and it cannot be improved upon by man, and any time that man tries to sidestep or alter natural processes, the balance of nature is impacted by a shortsighted force. This force, man, and specifically, man's arrogance and greed, is not imbued with the comprehensive wide angle long term understanding of the holistic impact that his actions will have on the ecosystem over time. This is why the native Americans had a policy of not implementing any changes unless they felt comfortable that they could predict the impact of their actions for seven generations into the future.

So to me, organic means real, natural, of nature. The alternative is man-made, fake, inauthentic, synthetic, like the difference between a golf course lake and a real one. Can't you sense the difference, isn't it somehow tangible to you?

It is not rocket science. Natural, organic products are better for people and they are better for the health of the planet. We should all do whatever is within our power to support organic farmers and green businesses, and we will be rewarded with better personal health and a cleaner planet.
